Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare

The Global Network Simulation in Healthcare (GNSH) met in Edinburgh on July 7- 9 2014. There were 40 attendees representing 16 healthcare professional simulation associations, 9 industry providers and 10 different countries. The meeting provided the opportunity for leaders in education and industry to set the agenda for a global movement “To connect all sectors of the healthcare simulation community and to enhance value through shared vision, resources, and tools.” (purpose statement GNSH). Debra Nestel, Michelle Kelly and Stephanie O'Regan represented ASSH.

The GNSH Business meeting was held on Wednesday July 9 where it was resolved to form three taskforces to address the top three actionable items as voted by the GNSH attendees. These deliverables were:

  • Develop content/tools to support the business case for simulation
  • Develop information and tactics connecting simulation to quality and safety
  • Develop a communication and information package and strategy

One ASSH representative sits on each of the task forces. An interim meeting of the task forces is scheduled to occur at the IMSH meeting in New Orleans January 2015, with the next full GNSH meeting in mid 2015.
